New York City is changing. With a comprehensive set of energy efficiency laws including Local Laws 88 and 97, existing buildings larger than 25,000 square feet must achieve compliance or face significant financial penalties
Beginning in 2025, NYC Local Law 97 applies energy efficiency and GHG emission limits to most buildings >25,000 sq. ft., with stricter limits coming in 2030
By January 1, 2025, NYC Local Law 88 requires most buildings >25,000 sq. ft. to install lighting upgrades and submetering for tenants.
